Process and Wastewater Treatment for Archie Rose Distilling Co., Botany
Archie Rose Distilling Co. is establishing a new world-class distillery in Botany with a strong sustainability focus, aiming to minimise power, water, and gas consumption. The project required treatment systems to ensure high-purity water for spirit production while also providing cost-effective, fit-for-purpose water for general operations. In addition, the wastewater from modern, sustainability-driven facilities often differs from older distilleries, requiring a tailored and flexible approach to trade waste treatment.

Hydroflux Industrial was engaged to design and supply both process water and wastewater treatment systems. Key elements included:
- A dual-level pure water system capable of producing two grades of water purity, optimising water use across production and general processes
- An expandable trade wastewater treatment system, tailored to handle variable and evolving wastewater characteristics while ensuring compliance and operational reliability
The solution was developed in close collaboration with Archie Rose, ensuring the design balanced sustainability goals with operational pragmatism. The expandable wastewater system was selected as a flexible approach to futureproof the plant against variations in effluent composition.
The Results
The systems will provide Archie Rose with:
- High-quality water for distilling to protect product integrity
- Efficient use of resources by applying appropriate purity levels across the facility
- A tailored trade wastewater solution designed for evolving sustainability-driven processes
- Cost-effective design without unnecessary complexity or overengineering
Proven Partnership
Archie Rose founder Will Edwards commented:
“Hydroflux has been very helpful with a positive attitude towards getting the job done and ensuring Archie Rose is committing to what we need, without overengineering and overspending. This assistance has been greatly appreciated.”
He also noted:
“Hydroflux has excellent references across a number of fields and I have had a handful of completely unrelated contacts recommend both your equipment, and most importantly, your dedication to troubleshooting and resolving issues that pop up during operations.”
