Hydroflux Deliver High Efficiency Two Staged Screening Facility for Gisborne RWP
November 13, 2025
The Gisborne Recycled Water Plant (RWP) recently underwent a major upgrade that will more than double the plant’s capacity, reducing energy demand and providing recycled water for local farmers and recreational grounds.

Hydroflux was awarded the design, supply and commissioning of a two-stage screening facility, using HUBER RPPS inclined drum screen technology. The two-stage screening consisted of 6mm followed by 1.5mm two-dimensional screening. The two-stage approach was required in order to protect the downstream membrane bioreactor process that produces the recycled water.
Project Overview
- Two staged screening
- 6mm coarse screen followed by 1.5mm fine screening
- Sized at 140 L/s of wastewater flow
- Two stage design protects the downstream MBR process from accumulation of hair, fibres and plastics
Technology Overview
- Inclined drum screen technology with integrated screenings washing and compaction
- Two dimensional perforations provide very high screenings capture
- All stainless-steel fabrication
- Well proven in many of Australia’s largest membrane bioreactor-based treatment plants
- Low speed design provides low maintenance requirements
Hydroflux provide a range of trash, coarse and fine screening packages for municipal sewage, river water and seawater intakes, and industrial applications using a range of technologies and solutions. Our services can include completed turnkey systems and specialist supply packages. For further information please visit www.hydrofluxepco.au or call us on 1300 417 697.
