Hydroflux Secures Wastewater Treatment Upgrade for Grease Waste Facility in Newcastle, NSW

July 18, 2025

Hydroflux was recently awarded a project to upgrade the wastewater treatment plant at a grease waste collection facility in Newcastle, NSW. The site, operated by one of the region’s major service providers, currently processes grease waste and transports the remaining by-products to Hunter Water’s sewage treatment plant.

Example above: Hydroflux can design, fabricate, install, and commission the HyDAF system within six weeks.

Hydroflux has supported this client for several years with specialised treatment chemicals and was selected to supply new equipment to improve the efficiency and environmental performance of the facility. Delivered in partnership with Hydroflux Utilities, the project offers a fully integrated solution, carefully designed to complement the existing infrastructure while future-proofing the facility for long-term performance.

The proposed system features a HyDAF unit with fully automated chemical conditioning, designed to achieve at least 90% removal of Total Suspended Solids (TSS) and Oil & Grease (O&G), with a secondary effect of removing up to 70% of the insoluble Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD).

With over 200 systems in operation globally, Hydroflux HyDAF Dissolved Air Flotation systems are available in various configurations

Manufactured locally in Sydney, NSW, our HyDAF series enables shorter lead times and streamlined project delivery. For a project of this scale, the HyDAF system can be designed, fabricated, installed, and commissioned in as little as six weeks, ideal for customers seeking effective results within tight timeframes.
