High Efficiency Drum Screens for Broome Nth WRP Improves Operational Performance

June 20, 2023

Recently the Broome North Water Resource Recovery Facility (WRP) was upgraded to enable it to treat all of Broome’s wastewater. This will cater for the town’s long-term population growth, and deliver environmental, community and tourism benefits.

The project will ensure the protection of Roebuck Bay and secure a supply of non-potable water to keep Broome’s open spaces green, delivering long term water security to the town well beyond 2050.

Project Highlights

  • 3 x HUBER RPPS Inclined Drum Screens with integrated screenings washing and compaction were provided in free standing stainless steel channels
  • PWWF of 162 L/s per screen
  • 1200mm drum diameter
  • 3mm perforations provide double the screenings capture over the existing system, leading to an increase in downstream operational efficiency with less maintenance costs
  • All 316SS fabrication, including the drum and internal screw

Benefits

  • High efficiency screening with 85%+ capture rates
  • Integrated screening washings and compaction simplifies process train
  • Duty/duty/standby arrangement
  • Free standing stainless steel channels to reduce site installation time

HUBER’s RPPS is an inclined drum screen that is used to screen solids, plastics, and rags from wastewater. It includes integrated screenings washing and compaction and the system operates automatically. For further information please contact Hydroflux Epco on 1300 417 697 or visit www.hydrofluxepco.au
